Adopt a Seal

Seals have long been a much loved animal with their big, wide eyes and adorable faces. They can be found all over the world, from the frozen waters of the Antarctic to more tropical climates such as Hawaii and even down on the Cornish coast. Seals are highly intelligent animals and can be trained in order to understand short sentences and perform tricks. They have a unique charm to them and can be highly playful and curious animals.

Seals have however not always had an easy life, they have been hunted by humans and some species nearly made extinct due to this. There are now many laws to help protect them but many marine and animal charities still rely on the generosity of the public to help their continued campaigning and to provide seal rescue programs. One of the many ways in which you can help is by adopting a seal, whereby you pay a set amount per year and receive information and an adoption certificate.

This will help charities and organizations to continue to look after sick and poorly seals until they are well enough to return to their natural habitat, or if this is not the case, for them to be kept safely and looked after.

Organisations such as the National Seal Sanctuary, , allow you to choose the type of seal that you want to adopt, from pups, grey seals, common seals, cape fur seals and even hooded seals. You can also adopt seals from Cornwall, where you can also attend many of the walks and talks given around the Cornish Coast as part of the adoption. It couldn’t be easier either as you can do it all online if you choose. Adopting a seal, or any animal for that matter, is a great way to feel involved and to take the chance to really help these charities to be able to continue their important work.
